Hotel Information
Check in time is after 3.00pm. Check out time is before 11.00am. If you wish to stay after 11am, a charge of £15.00 per hour may apply.
Please advise reception accordingly.
Meals are served in either on our Samphire Restaurant or Rainsford Bar:
Breakfast: Monday – Friday 7.00am – 9.30am
Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holidays 8.00am – 10.00am
All day menu: Monday – Sunday 12.00pm – 9.30pm
Afternoon tea: Monday – Sunday 12.00pm – 5.00pm
We recommend you book a table in advance.
Club VIP
If you choose to unsubscribe to our emailing marketing campaigns, your membership will be deactivated.
- All cancellations regarding the membership must be made in writing to sales@countyhotelgroup.co.uk
- You may cancel your room reservation without charge up to 24 hours prior to your arrival. You will be charged 100% of the total price for cancellations received within 24 hours of your arrival. If we do not receive any prior notification to cancel your booking, the full price will be charged. Separate cancellation terms apply to group bookings.
- Prepaid rates are non refundable but may be able to be transferred subject to agreement by the hotel
All benefits from the VIP Club membership are subject to avaliability.
- The VIP Membership Card is not a credit card or charge card.
- Please have the card with you on arrival. You will not be able to receive a discount without a valid VIP Membership Card and a discount will not be given once you have left the hotel.
- All benefits from the VIP Membership are subject to availability.
- The card can only be used by the authorised registered owner and in accordance with the membership rules printed behind the card.
- Membership promotions are not available to use with other promotions.
- Drinks are limited to one per person and is only applicable for guests having a meal in The Samphire Restaurant.
- Room upgrades are based on availability for the required date.
- Early check-in and late check-out can only be confirmed on the day of the reservation and is subject to availability.
- Parking is subject to availability - Guests must register their cars on the devices at reception.
- The card cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers, vouchers or discounts unless specifically stated.
- The card discounts are not valid for special events, such as, but not limited to, Mother’s Day, New Year’s Eve, Christmas Day, Valentine’s Day unless specifically stated.
- Offers will be emailed to you from time to time. Unsubscribing from our email database invalidates the VIP Membership.
- Bedroom reservations are by phone, direct email or The County Hotel Chelmsford official website using the code provided at the back of your card. Any reservations from third party websites will not be able to enjoy the VIP Membership discounts.
- All offers are subject to availability and subject to change without notice
General Terms & Conditions
If you do not guarantee your reservation with a credit card number within 24 hours of making your reservation your booking may be released.
For bookings on the day of arrival, we require a further refundable deposit for any charges that may be incurred. These conditions do not apply to advanced purchase rates which are bookable in advance and non-refundable.
For the comfort of all our guests, The County Hotel, Chelmsford is a completely non-smoking hotel. Smoking in the rooms, or any activity which leaves a distinguishing odour will result in a minimum £200.00 cleaning charge in order for us to restore the room back to an acceptable condition.
Additional beds for children of 12 and under are charged at £20.00.
We politely request that guests of The County Hotel, Chelmsford do not bring in their own alcoholic beverages or take away food unless previously agreed with the Senior Management Team via email.
- A booking confirmation will be sent within 24 hours of booking. Please check carefully that this is correct.
- In exceptional circumstances the company reserves the right to offer an alternative date of stay or to cancel the reservation(s) with full refund to the payee.
- No refund will be given for early departure unless caused by significant acts of negligence on the part of the company or its employees.
- Please note: if you are booking a promotion or a discounted rate, no further discounts or offers can be applied.
The company reserves the right to collect pre-authorisation credit card details on arrival to guarantee any additional monies due.
Cancellation Charges
If you cancel your reservation, you will be charged at the full rate unless cancelled by 12.00pm 24 hours prior to arrival. If you fail to arrive, or checkout a day earlier than expected, you will be charged at the full rate, unless we have received notification in advance of the cancellation period. We request that all reservations are confirmed with a credit/debit card number, and you are reminded that this constitutes a contract between yourself and The County Hotel, which is governed by English law. Accommodation deposits are non-refundable, but can be held against a future booking.

What is a pre-authorisation?
A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold of a specific amount of the available balance on a credit or debit card. The pre-authorisation is not a charge and no funds have been debited from your account.
How much is a pre-authorisation?
The amount that we pre-authorise will depend on the number of nights that you stay.
When is the card pre-authorised?
All credit or debit cards are pre-authorised on check in.
Why is the credit card pre-authorised?
When you give us a credit/debit card, the pre-authorisation guarantees us that the funds are available to pay for any charges incurred.
Who is responsible for the pre-authorisation procedure?
Our Merchant Services are responsible for the maintenance and management of the pre-authorisation process. Should you have any queries regarding your pre-authorisation or any part of the process, please let us know
When does the pre-authorisation get released from the credit card?
This varies dependent on your individual credit/debit card. Upon your check out your room charge and any extras will be charged to your card, this will typically appear on your credit card statement within 3 working days. However, if you choose to pay the balance with another credit card or method of payment, we will cancel the pre-authorisation and this could take a few working days to clear in your account.
