A sell-out in its first year, 'Dragon Hunt' returns for 2014!
Join us to celebrate St. George’s day and hunt down our enormous 10ft high, stunning animatronic dragon. The dragon was made at Elstree Studios, from the makers of ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’. A film quality production, the dragon has animatronic moving wings, blinking eyes and smoke bellowing from its nostrils. You could even have a go at building your own shield to help defend yourself from the fiery beast, but don’t let the silly Fool pinch it before you find the dragon!Dates & Times: Sunday, 20 April 2014 - 10:00am

Learn the basics of handsewn patchwork using paper templates, fabric, needles, pins and threads to create a beautiful piece which you can take home and make into a cushion or mini quilt. You will also experiment with cutting wheels and mats to produce machine sewn patchwork – two techniques in one workshop.

This class is for anyone wanting to learn the basics. The focus is creativity and fun, having a go and making a selection of bespoke items to take home.
Each student will have the chance to make earrings, a necklace and a bracelet. You will be working with some basic tools, wire, beads and findings but also be shown how to make your own components. Tutor Andrea Neale will show you the
skills necessary to turn a bowl of beads and reels of wire in to elegant, beautiful accessories.

For those with some enamelling experience. Once you have learnt some of the basic enamelling techniques – fusing glass to metal using a table top kiln – our experienced tutor, Toni Peers, is going to show you how to achieve your own designs
through the use of stencils.
These may be created using items such as rubber stamps as well as your own stencils created in class. By the end of the
class you will have created at least 3 enamelled pieces which make stunning jewellery

Come and experience the magic and tranquillity of a woodland setting with one of our rare breed horses. The day will include a logging demonstration in the woods then having a go at it yourselves. The 3foot People Festival will return for its ninth year from 24th - 26th June 2014. This is the largest outdoor festival exclusively for children aged 5 and under in the UK with nearly 13,000 people attending last year. Preschool children and their parents and carers will be overwhelmed with wonder as they experience this unique festival, in Hylands Park. The beautiful village of tents, tepees and domes will host an array of playful activities to inspire and entertain.

Voices and limbs are warming up and costumes and props are being dusted down as dozens of fabulous acts prepare themselves for the return of The Fling Festival once again on Saturday 28 June 2014. New faces will mingle amongst acts back by popular demand as they fill the huge tented village of adults-only amusements from 12noon to 11pm at Hylands Park, Chelmsford.

The Tuesday Toddle sessions are run approximately every month throughout the year, with a break during the school summer holiday period. The Toddles are an opportunity for parents with pre-school children to enjoy a guided walk in the park and garden areas surrounding Hylands House along with other parents with children of a similar age. The routes chosen for the walk on the whole take into account those with pushchairs although a short detour maybe necessary from time to time to avoid steps etc. Maximum of three children per adult.

Island Inflatables bring this fabulously bouncy park to the back lawn of Hylands House. There will be a huge selection of inflatables for the kids to play on, why not bring a picnic and relax whilst they burn off all that energy.
