Wildlife Fun Day

The very popular family fun day is here again with a lively mix of activities.

 

See and handle, if you dare, live snakes, lizards and large spiders.  

 

Make candles with the Essex beekeepers; try fossil rubbing and other crafts.

 

We have stands for the RSBP and Ferret Resue Society; who bring along their ferrets and not forgetting the owls.

Marconi Day

Sandford Mill's annual open day event to mark International Marconi Day will take place on Saturday 25th April.


Access to the Engine house and Barn which store our industrial heritage displays, the historic 1922 Marconi broadcasting hut and our Marine Radio cabins dating from 1900's to 1960's.

Stone Age to Iron Age Primary Teacher CPD

The new topic for primary history, Stone Age to Iron Age, put into perspective with a local flavour.  A one-day CPD event for KS2 teachers who would like to discover the big picture, the features of each period, and try out practical classroom activities.

This course, run jointly by Essex County Council and Chelmsford Museum, develops the methods of historical enquiry, including how evidence is used rigorously to make historical claims and discern how and why contrasting arguments and interpretations of the past have been constructed.

Unlocking our past with local heroes and villains

This course, a collaboration between Essex County Council and Chelmsford Museum, introduces a wide range of evidence, all of which can be used as a means of historical enquiry, including how evidence is used rigorously to make historical claims and discern how and why contrasting arguments and interpretations of the past have been constructed. The focus will be on local people, their stories and the legacies they have left behind.

The art and crafts of World War 1

Chelmsford Museum April fool

There's a small prize for one person who correctly identifies one of our temporary additions!  No need to book, just turn up and have a go.
